Since 1978 Geriatric Resource Centre has been providing personal homecare services for seniors in the Greater Boston/ MetroWest area. Living at home can at times be isolating and lonely. A companion caregiver provides conversation, engagement, and interaction… all of which helps to ease onsets of depression or loneliness. Our companion caregivers provide a sense of relief for individuals living independently or who have family living far away. For clients who are experiencing issues such as memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer’s, GRC can provide caregivers who have extensive experience in memory care. For clients moving into assisted living facilities, Geriatric Resource Centre can provide additional support to help ease the transition into their new surroundings. Caregivers can assist with helping clients settle in, start a new routine, and aide in socialization. Our caregivers are also available to provide additional support for clients living in long-term care settings. Clients who require more one-on-one time then the facility can provide, can utilize GRC caregivers for additional personal care. Although most of our services are focused towards the elderly, we have staff well-versed in assisting clients of all ages and abilities.

Very often, a family member becomes the main caregiver. GRC allows relief for the family, whether for short term, occasional, or for limited care. If the main caregiver needs a break or needs to travel out of the area, they can do so confidently knowing that a GRC caregiver is at home, following the care plan. During these difficult days, seniors are usually more at ease to be in the comfort of their own home. GRC caregivers are experienced in providing comfort and compassion and also can tend to the usual everyday tasks, allowing family members to focus on connecting with their loved one. In addition, we are very experienced and well-skilled to provide delicate care for our hospice clients, helping them to bathe, change, and provide them with needed comfort.
Geriatric Resource Centre has long standing relationships with several of the top hospice agencies in the area. We work together as a team communicating with the hospice staff, monitoring client health status, and communicating closely with the hospice care team.

Do you provide services in non-traditional home settings?
Geriatric Resource Centre provides services in settings such as private homes, assisted living, memory care units, nursing homes, etc. When our clients and or their family members see a need for increased care, we are able to come in as an additional support team.
Do you accept long-term care insurance?
Yes we accept long-term care insurance.
Do you accept Medicare?
No, we do not accept Medicare. Medicare will only cover skilled services that you would receive from a doctor, hospital, or therapy services. Medicare does not cover personal care, homemaking, companionship care.
Am I signing a contract?
Geriatric Resource Centre requires that you sign a service agreement that outlines our policies. You are able to discontinue services at any time.
What is your cancellation Policy?
Geriatric Resource Centre requires at least 24 hour notice to cancel services otherwise a cancellation fee will be charged.
Can I use your services only once/on a need basis?
Geriatric Resource Centre is very flexible with our clients. If you are in need for daily, weekly, monthly care or if you are in need of our services just once, we are able to find a caregiver to meet your unique needs.
Is there flexibility in scheduling?
Geriatric Resource Centre will work with you to find a caregiver or a team of caregivers that will be able to provide you support. If you are looking for ongoing care, respite care, or short-term care, we are here to help you in your time of need.
Do you provide In-Home Non-medical Assessments?
Before starting services, Geriatric Resource Centre will schedule a meeting with you and your family in person or virtually. During this meeting, Geriatric Resource Centre will complete a non-medical assessment that will provide us with a better understanding of your unique needs, what you are looking for in a caregiver, and how we can provide you with the best care if our services are appropriate for the current needs.
Are Caregivers Insured?
At Geriatric Resource Centre, our caregivers are our employees. Our agency is fully insured.
What is Geriatric Resource Centre’s Hiring Process?
Geriatric Resource Centre requires all potential hires fill out an extensive application, complete a rigorous interview, pass a full criminal background check as well as be able to provide excellent references from previous families worked with. Geriatric Resource Centre want to ensure that the caregivers we hire are able to represent our values and expectations. It is important to us that all of our caregivers are certified nursing assistants (CNAs)and home health aides (HHA). We expect our staff to able to work together in teams and with other disciplinary teams in order to develop and implement interactive care plans that meet each client’s unique needs.
